Without a doubt, the 2011 Rodeo Season has started. More than 300 BBQ Cook Off Teams are camped out in front of the Reliant Stadium. Hundreds of thousands of sponsorship dollars are being spent on tents, food, drinks, entertainment and plain ole rodeo fun. Hundreds of thousands of people will flock to the rodeo BBQ to partake in the outrageous fun and activities happening in both the public and private party tents. We got a chance to visit some of these fun folks on the opening night; listen in to Talk of the Bay as we tent hop and enjoy a true Texas tradtion...RODEO! A trail ride group from Brookshire Texas heads to the Houston Live Stock Show, Rodeo & BBQ cook off. This was started back in 1932. It is a benefit / charity that helps the youth of Texas. Trail riders from all over Texas begin the long journey to the Astrodome / Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas for this Month long event in February. It is the largest Rodeo and BBQ cook off in the world.
Brief tour of Gladewater's downtown, east Texas' antique capitol. An old railroad town that boomed and busted with the nearby oil field, Gladewater revitalized its faltering downtown with 200 antique dealers in 30 malls. The rodeo comes through, too.
